We parked at the same spot on Friday night but there was a very different feeling due to an aggressive security presence�

We arrived at the car park on Tara Hill at about 3am on Friday night to watch the Sunrise on Saturday morning. The Sun had entered Cancer at 00:00 or midnight on Friday to signal the longest day / shortest night. We had decided against camping for two reasons � time pressure due to building our new home / school and the ban on camping by the OPW. The OPW stands for the Office of Public Works and they have responsibility for the 100 acres on top of Tara Hill. We were surprised and very disappointed by what we saw when we arrived.

A large angry crowd of drunken and noisy people were drinking in the public car park and they blocked our way to get parking. This drunken group of people who were drinking on a public road displayed a very stupid attitude to us - they just turned their backs to my Pajero jeep. I did not beep or flash my lights or rev the engine � I just waited. After a minute some turned to look and when they saw that it was me that was driving they came over all chatty and friendly and laughing and joking etc. I asked why they were blocking traffic and the reply was �we thought you were security�. I asked if they were blocking all traffic and did not get an answer. The crowd parted and I parked very near to the stile entrance to the Hill but on the other side of the road facing north. There were five MD security and two OPW staff standing at the gate trying to scare people away from entering Tara.

Their job was to prevent camping but their aggressive stance had the effect of frightening people away altogether. The three of us got out of the jeep and wearing robes we passed security and went to Rath Grainne where we met two others who joined us in silence waiting for the Sun to rise. On Rath Grainne we saw two women who had presumably spent the night dreaming / sleeping / meditating in sleeping bags in the centre of the ancient mound. There was a band of cloud on the horizon and the Sun cresting the horizon was obscured. The Sun finally cleared the clouds and the mist dissolved and the longest day began.
 

We were not to stay on Tara to enjoy it. When we returned to the car park we noticed that the caf� / shop had a sign up saying CLOSED � this had appeared at 5am just after Sunrise � this was the first time this had happened on the Summer Sun Standing at Tara.

We had brought soup and prepared food for our early morning breakfast. We went back to the jeep where we saw a terrible scene. There was fire in beer barrel in the car public park, the revellers were fighting and shouting and drinking and dropping cans and rubbish everywhere. A fight broke out when a woman pushed and hit a man and another man* hit this man on the head three times with a 7inch cooking pot. After this, the man* produced an empty whiskey bottle and held it by the neck as he prowled around seeking another chance to get at the man that the woman had hit. They were all very drunk and tired by the look of them. Next the man who had been hit on the head produced a 6inch bladed knife and he staggered around the scene. The OPW men and the MD Security force were laughing at what was going on, they seemed delighted. The Gardai were phoned but as expected they did not arrive for another three hours and then they did nothing.

The drunken aggressors eventually walked away, leaving the barrel fire and the wounded man alone. A �stag group� from Belfast appeared at the �camp� and began falling around, dropping food and beer cans in the public car park and falling over making right fools of them selves. Others at the �camp� also left or fell asleep in plastic chairs near the scene of so much violence. It was ridiculous � cans and bottles on the ground, drunks everywhere and then the �authorities� started making it worse. They started insulting the man who had been hit on the head. The MD security men tried their best to get this man to attack them. The OPW men just smiled and stood to one side. One MD security man ran at the wounded man while in a boxing pose, others shouted a range of insults and goaded the injured man to fight. He did not � maybe he was beginning to sober up after many hours of drunkenness without sleep. He did however begin to respond with his own angry words and gestures. The MD security stood at the gate scaring people away from Tara.
 

The MD manager arrived and he used foul language to my partner and I - I asked him to stop cursing in front of my partner and when he continued I put the window up and locked the doors. I met Michael Martin as I was leaving Tara at about 11:30 on Saturday morning 21 June 08. I was leaving the hill of Tara because of the heavy rain, anger and high potential of violence that totally prevented any proper celebration of the longest day. His nasty neo-nazi on-line insults to my family and me can be found at Alt.religion.druid - a usenet forum. Michael Martin is the Tarawatch spokesperson for Vincent Salafia (real name Michael O�Toole) and he told me �I will shoot you� when I asked him to stop insulting my family. I have two witnesses to his death threat statement. As I drove past Mr Martin he said �I will shoot you� and I had to go down the little road from the busy car park a bit to get a turning point for my vehicle. When I got back to the car park Michael Martin had disappeared. The woman hating fascist Michael Martin has plans to settle his heathen friends in Africa to start his own �new world order� after the land clearance has been completed� maybe O�Toole will go with him� Michael Martin assumed a friendship with me after he disagreed with the other well-known neo-nazi fascist Michael McGrath fake druid who was attacking me online. I did not respond to Michael Martin�s childish ploy of �let�s gang up on McGrath�. Michael McGrath fake druid is mentally sick suffering from psychosis, bi-polarity, alcoholism and �archdruid of the world complexes�. Because I ignored Michael Martin�s attempt at some kind of gang mentality friendship - he began to attack me and mine online. Now, this is the same thing that happened with Michael McGrath fake druid when he offered me titles that he had no right to offer - I ignored this stupid trick that was designed to make the title giver important causing death threats to be issued from the failed fascist fool from Kilkenny. I now have death threats from Michael McGrath fake druid and from Michael Martin neo fascist because I would not and will not have any thing to do with such complete egotistical loudmouths. Michael Martin neo fascist and Michael McGrath fake druid both hate Paganism and both have threatened to kill me - McGrath even offered alibis to anyone who would do the deed. With all this aggression, the excessive security and OPW presence, the caf� shop closed for the day, the drinking and extreme drunkenness of the protestors and the party goers, the Michael Martin neo fascist death threat and the continuous rain we just realised that it would not be appropriate to try to celebrate the Summer Sun Standing on Tara for 2008. We went to Dublin instead.

Many contacted me sharing their disappointment and understanding of our decision. My deepest concern is that someone inside the authorities is deliberately creating a civil unrest problem to generate such tension and reactions as seen on the Summer Solstice because there is the intention of closing free access to facilitate the commercialisation of tourism on the Hill of Tara. This is corporate fascism attacking our indigenous Spiritual heritage and Celtic culture for profit while the Opus Dei fort at Lismullin in Tara Valley is kept hidden by the media. Maybe you can guess who profits from such destruction!
