Collierstown Cairn
author by Carmel Diviney publication date Tue Jul 14, 2009 10:16Report this post to the editors
Yesterday we began the building of a Carin at Collierstown. This is the site of an ancient graveyard at least 6000 years old and from which over 62 bodies were disinterred during excavation in order to make way for the M3 Motorway. There is nothing at this spot to mark this graveyard as being a place of note, nothing to tell of its desecration.
Keery Murray, Tara's Bard came up with the idea of creating a Cairn and reviving an age old custom of people bringing rocks to a place of importance. We would like everyone who visits Tara or who passes the way to stop at the Collierstown Cairn and add your own rock with your initials on it, and in time, we will have built a monument to the dead who were sacreligiously wrenched from their ancient burial place. Help us to build this memorial by spreading the word.
We lay gifts with the foundations of sand from the Temple of Karnak in Egypt, Sacred Tobacco from the North American Indian Tribes, water from the Healing Well at Tara, crystals, a candle etc. Please add your own gifts or simply stop for a while and ponder....
Reasoning - Lughnasa 09
There has been great destruction in the sacred valley of Tara by the
toll road building pirates. Many ancestor graves have been desecrated and
destroyed to suit the Opus Dei agenda of pagan erasure. The authorities ignore
all protests and requests from the people of Ireland and worldwide to save
Tara valley. Even academics protested but the plan was forced - violence
against protesters was watched by Gardai and judges decide for the profiteers.
There is a memorial being established to honour our ancestral dead at
Collierstown in the sacred valley of the Royal Pagan City of Tara. This is the
idea of Tara's Bard - Keery Murray. At the last full moon ceremony on
Tara 6 Aug 09 I told Keery that we (An Doire Geallach Doracha (Dark Moon
Grove) of Ireland's Druidschool) will help and spread the word. Every full
moon we hold ceremony in a "Ritual of Protection" for and on Tara about 8pm
ish to 10ish and we are joined by many of the Protectors of Tara. These are
the front line activists with non-violent direct action - brave warriors who
deserve respect from all. Bring a stone to Tara on the full moon and it will
get to the Collierstown Cairn. You are invited to contribute - Vigil ph number

My partner and I have returned from a handfasting ceremony on Rabbitt
Island off south Cork and we collected many stones just to bring to Tara to
add to the Collierstown Cairn. It was a fun day with lovely people. In June
2010 on the longest day we hold the Tara Pilgrimage, please bring a stone from
where you live if you can join us. You can add it to the centre of our dance
and drum circle where strong Light builds. At the end of our ceremony all can
take a charged stone or object home and the remainder can be taken and added
to Collierstown Cairn Ancestor Memorial in Tara Valley. We will
bring our purposefully collected quartz stones this coming full moon to Tara
4th Sept 09.
Your adding of a charged stone to this Collierstown Cairn Ancestor
Memorial in Tara Valley is powerful expression of a common goal.
Remember them respectful and higher dignity returns. At this time the
remains of 62 individuals that were taken from the ancient monument at
Collierstown (so it is given) are in black plastic bags in storage in a
warehouse near Drogheda. The bones of a horse and big dog found near the high
status female beside the huge henge and lying between Opus Dei Lismullin
Centre and the Ancient Rath Lugh temple are just a short walk up the sacred
valley of the white mare of the Gaelic Celts. Governmental corruption /
ignoring tactics keeps these things quiet. You can honour the ancestors in a
clean honest way by adding a charged stone to the Collierstown Cairn
Ancestor Memorial in Tara Valley
Sept 28 2009 update.
After our last full moon ceremony on Tara we took stones from the centre of our circle and brought them to Collierstown. Others had added stones to the cairn and the following images show the wide variety of stones that have been added. Two of the group had been prisoners for their non-violent direct action protests - I had visited them in prison and stood beside them on the front line in protest, they attend ceremony on the full moon and together we all help to build this memorial cairn.

Update 5 May 2010.
Despite a report that the Ancestor Memorial Cairn at Collierstown had been removed by the authorities we are happy to report that it still exists and that it is growing. The following two images were taken after our last full moon ceremony on Tara on the 27th of April 2010when the quartz rocks that we blessed were added to the cairn. The thin lines that can be seen over the white quartz rocks to the lower right are trees - the landscaping has begun and the contractor has respected the monument.

The image below was taken by RedJohn on the morning of the 5th of May 2010 and shows again that the memorial cairn exists. This image was taken from a different angle to the two images above while the rocks are wet and again we can see the young trees planted with respect beside the cairn.
