TARA na Ri
This is a new grouping of people and groups with a focused desire to Save Tara from destruction. Many groups have joined up and now operate as one new group under the name - “Campaign to Save Tara”. I personally know many of these people and I am in full support of their efforts. I have joined them on Protest Marches, Roadside Demonstrations and have shared and swopped news and information openly. The group has a clear focus and seeks your help to achieve its aims and objectives.
Aims and Objectives of the Campaign to Save Tara -
a) To give all the legal protection possible at National, European and International levels to the preservation of the integrity of the landscape setting of Tara.
b) To prevent the M3 double toll road motorway or commercially disruptive activity from going between the hill tops of Tara and Skryne or through Blundelstown.
c) To preserve and promote the integrity of Tara/Skryne and the Gabhra Valley monument complex creating a “Heritage Island” of this unique landscape setting.
Strategies to achieve these Aims and Objectives are -
a) Taking a legal case to Europe seeking to stop and block the M3 double toll road
b) Asking UNESCO to endorse the Royal City of Tara as a World Heritage Park
c) Supporting an integrated transport system instead of a double toll road.
The Solidarity Vigil Group have been camping on Tara Hill since the Summer Solstice 2006 and they have kept a fire alight for over 9 months (written in Apr 07) as a symbol of hope. A second campsite has now been opened up on Rath Lugh in the Sacred Valley between the Hills of Tara and Skryne. The forced double troll road has been made to cut into the west side of Rath Lugh without any need to - except to be kept as far away as possible from Opus Dei at Lismullin. I have agreed to hold our twin fires for Beltine Ceremony on Rath Lugh (instead of on Tara) on Tuesday night at 8pm on the 1st of May. People wishing to join us may meet in the car park on top of Skryne Hill at 7:30pm.
The Campaign to Save Tara has matured into a strong dedicated group seeking a focused result. Certain individuals who had been negatively influencing the group or causing disharmony have now left. The group are mounting a political campaign for the upcoming General Election in Ireland that is due in May/June 2007. This may be the final opportunity to Save Tara.
Fundraising Campaign
The Campaign is mounting a fundraising effort for finance for public information leafleting in Co Meath. RedC carried out the only independent survey on this issue. 2 out of 3 people wanted the motorway rerouted out of the Gabhra Valley. Sinn Féin and Labour support re-routing the Green Party proposing to abandon the M3 for bypasses and a railway. This General Election is the last realistic opportunity for Tara. All other options have been exhausted. The estimated cost of printing for flyers etc. is €10,000 and we will require €3,000 shortly as a deposit for the printer. For Irish deposits, a deposit may be made in any Bank of Ireland by quoting:

The Post Box address: Campaign to Save Tara PO Box 30, Navan, Co Meath, Ireland
Or send you donations to Dr Muireann Ní Bhrolcháin School of Celtic Studies National University of Ireland Maynooth Co Kildare Ireland
Send money to this group because you will empower them to provide true and important information to the adult voting population of Co Meath. The government has told a series of lies to the public about this double toll road, the papers, tv and radio have for the most part turned a blind eye to the disgraceful destruction. Judges and Politicians have conspired to twist the laws against the people for corporate gains. Opus Dei sit quietly at Lismullin in the Sacred Valley of the Royal City of Tara happily absorbing government grants and everyone is terrified of identifying the bullies. Please send a donation to the Campaign to Save Tara. As I have only external involvement I ask that people do not send money to me but instead please send to the Campaign to Save Tara using one of the three options above. See it as an investment in preserving the cultural heritage of Celtic Ireland.
