Vote Save Tara Valley now
Yesterday the 22nd of May 2007 saw the contractors forcing the double toll road through Tara Valley with a vengeance. After three days of blockade by the protestors at the gates of the machinery compounds that stopped the destruction work - things suddenly changed. A massive amount of machines and personnel began to push this unwanted road. The Campaign to Save Tara group stood in front of the diggers, blocked the gates and tried to stop this destruction of our culture by putting their bodies in the way of the machines. The protestors were attacked and beaten by the workers while the Gardaí looked on - this event lasted 12 hours. Dr Muireann Ni Brochalann was there and tried to stop these savage attacks - she is on the left in the image below.
Peaceful civil protest - Save Tara
The contractor is Howley Construction - see the hi-vis jacket on the man on the right above. Howleys men manhandled the protesters out of the way of the machines. They got very physical and the protestors were beaten up in front of the Gardaí. Young men and women were actually beaten up by the Irish employees of Howley. This is insane madness.
The Irish Independent and the Irish Times carried stories and pictures of the commercial brutality. For more info please see http://www.indymedia.ie/article/82683 I have just been speaking to the protesters and they are all in physical pain - they were not just removed - they were punched and kicked and slapped and thrown about the place by Irish workers for Howley who has a E650m contract to force this unwanted road. When faced with a gate blockade these digger drivers began to drive through the ditches and break down the hedges to get out of the compound.
Monday - protestors were blocking the gates to the machinery compounds - no work was done. Tuesday - the workers attacked the protestors with violence. Digger drivers are told that they will be sacked if they join a Union - the workers said this to the protestors after the day of confrontation.
Wednesday - the protestors are in pain - suffering from dehydration, hunger and physical abuse. Bruising, scrapes, a busted knee, strains and sprains on all protestors. I’m just off the phone and this report is live. Minister for Injustice McDowell gave instructions for the brutality. The Garda Superintendent was overheard talking to the Minister just minutes before the corporate violence began
My mission yesterday was to drive around the West Meath voting constituency with VOTE SAVE TARA VALLEY posters on the trailer - see image below where I stopped on the M3 / N3 projected roundabout in Tara Valley. I parked in Tara Valley where the forced toll road is planned to cross the existing N3. I know that many thousands of people saw the posters on my trailer.

I went through Dunshaughlin, Tara, Navan, Trim, back to Navan on to Tara and then to Trim, Summerhill and finally Kilcock. I drove slow and pulled over repeatedly to allow traffic to pass me and see the message. I hope it causes many people to change from voting for Fianna Fail or the progressive Democrats to parties that want to stop the unforgivable destruction of our heritage.

When driving through Navan a mature man walkin past while I was stuck in traffic said - “Fianna Fail” but with a laugh in his expression. I replied “its more like Fianna Failure” and he said “you’re right there, you know”

Many posters of the corrupt were defaced - Hitler moustaches had been added to show the true colours of the candidates. Smug grinning corrupt politicians are being exposed and having their posters defaced by the people that they have failed. The corruption levels in Ireland are incredible – but the people are beginning to fight back.
The woman below is so blind to the destruction of Tra Valley that she has her national election campaign poster located in the middle of the proposed M3 / N3 roundabout. Someone has put an X on her face and written a message to all who travel this route. SAVE TARA

I am not personally political but the three parties who have said that they will stop the M3 going through Tara Valley are Sinn Fein, The Greens and Labour.
Don’t vote Fianna Failure if you love your country.
I'm out again now with the jeep and trailer with the Save Tara Posters held on with Gaff Tape. I'll do the circuit that I did yesterday and meet the protesters at the Vigil Camp with supplies later tonight.
