LIBRARY >> Newsletter Archive Hi to all students and members, and a warm welcome to our newest members,

Summer Solstice on Tara - This year the Summer Sun Standing is on Thursday, the 21st of June 07 at 6 minutes past 6 in the afternoon. Please join us on June 21st at 8pm for our Barefoot dancing and drumming on Rath of the Synods on Tara Hill, see http://www.druidschool.com/site/1030100/page/891946 for full details - all are welcome, bring quartz rocks to add to the centre for the dancers to take home.

The attack on the sacred valley in the Royal Celtic City of Tara and the destruction of a series of huge monuments including the gigantic Henge at Lismullin (beside Opus Dei’s HQ) has been given the go-ahead by outgoing Minister Dick Roche. Mr Roche said he signed the order on the advice of the Director of the National Museum, Dr Pat Wallace. It is well known that Dr Wallace will tow the Fianna Fail party line. Muireann Ní Bhrolcháin of the Campaign to Save Tara condemned Mr Roche's actions. "Tara is not only one of the 100 most endangered sites now. It is the most endangered landscape in the world."

The new Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government is Green Party TD John Gormley. I am asking you and your friends, networks and associates to write, email and phone the one man who actually has the power to Save Tara Valley - John Gormley. As the newly elected and responsible Minister he now has the power under the National Monuments Acts, Section 14A (4) (d), introduced in 2004, where according to Section 22 of the Interpretation Act, 2005, a Minister has the power to revoke or amend previous directions. This section reads: "A power conferred by an enactment to make a statutory instrument shall be read as including a power, exercisable in the like manner and subject to the like consent and conditions (if any), to repeal or amend a statutory instrument made under that power and (where required) to make another statutory instrument in place of the one so repealed." Mr Gilmore of the Labour Party said, "It is clear therefore that Minister Gormley has the power to reverse Mr Roche's order and he should do so immediately."

Please contact John Gormley - subject “Save Tara Valley” and advise him that he has this power and then ask politely that that he uses this power (as given above) to stop all development work in Tara Valley, to re-route the M3 and thereby Saves Tara Valley, making it into a World Heritage Park. UNESCO will be delighted. Generations will thank him and you.

Response Time
Apologies to correspondents who expect a quick reply - this is due to my being in Dublin less and less as I create the new Druidschool premises and accommodation in Roscommon. My order of response is Student Druids, Druidschool members and then casual callers. Replies may take up to a week or more on occasion. More information on our new premises early 2007.
