Hi John,
congratulations on the Greens success and your new Ministry.
My name is Con Connor and you may remember me from FAS Cabra when I was in Product Development with Tommy Simpson who I met at the Mansion House on Wednesday last. I have voted Green in the last and all previous elections.
I am very concerned about your gutless efforts to Save Tara Valley because it seems so weak after your exposure of McDowell. The attack on the sacred valley in the Royal Celtic City of Tara and the destruction of a series of huge monuments including the gigantic Henge at Lismullin (beside Opus Dei's HQ) by outgoing Minister Dick Roche is a perversion of ministerial power. Mr Roche said he signed the order on the advice of the Director of the National Museum, Dr Pat Wallace. It is well known that Dr Wallace will tow the Fianna Fail party line. Muireann Ní Bhrolcháin of the Campaign to Save Tara condemned Mr Roche's actions. "Tara is not only one of the 100 most endangered sites now. It is the most endangered landscape in the world."
As the newly elected and responsible Minister YOU now have the power under the National Monuments Acts, Section 14A (4) (d), introduced in 2004, where according to Section 22 of the Interpretation Act, 2005, a Minister has the power to revoke or amend previous directions. This section reads: "A power conferred by an enactment to make a statutory instrument shall be read as including a power, exercisable in the like manner and subject to the like consent and conditions (if any), to repeal or amend a statutory instrument made under that power and (where required) to make another statutory instrument in place of the one so repealed." YOU have the power to reverse Mr Roche's order and YOU should do so immediately."
John, YOU have the power, please use this power (as given above) to stop all development work in Tara Valley, to re-route the M3 and thereby Save Tara Valley, making it into a World Heritage Park. UNESCO will be delighted. Generations will thank you as you fight corruption and bad ministerial decisions. I offer to take you on a walk about in the sacred valley of the Royal City of Tara and show you what the NRA are trying to ignore.
