TARA na Ri Tunnel under the M3 at Rath Lugh

Please go to http://www.tarapixie.net/ and click on Dozer Digging up Rath Lugh on the 6th March 08 For video of the days events click here!

This is a video report of the Gardai breaking the law, the toll road builders bullying the Tara Protectors and the secret tunnel under the forced route of the M3 double toll road. The defense of Rath Lugh by the Tara Protectors is happening right now (9-3-08) only a few hundreds yards from the Opus Dei HQ and massive Henge at Lismullin. The Gardai are taking instructions from the road pirates and the Gardai are pretending that the land occupied by the Tara Protectors (Rath Lugh) is private property when in fact it is owned by Coillte (national forestry) on behalf of the Irish People.

The new Minister John Gormley placed a temporary preservation order on Rath Lugh that he has signed/made permanent on the 7th of March 2008 - this activated the NRA to move on Rath Lugh. But the actual fence at Rath Lugh has been moved by the NRA road pirates three times. The trick played by the minister was to be seen to be protecting the monument but in reality the complex at Rath Lugh was re-defined to suit the M3 pirates who moved quickly. Bear in mind that the forced M3 was made to swing further to the east to stay away from Opus Dei HQ at Lismullin to protect the graves of the medieval black friars by destroying the graves of pagan ancestors. This caused the Henge to be found and many other monuments in this short stretch have also been discovered. The EU is taking Ireland to court over this stretch of forced road - but they are laughed at by the corrupt ones because they must reckon to pay any fine by the EU from public taxes anyway, and the damage would be done and the road built.

In the video you will see the fence erected because of the Ministerial Protection Order being forcefully opened by road pirates with the support of the Gardai. The intention was to link up the two ends of the dirt road and thereby establish a ‘right of way’ for heavy machinery through the area under the protection order. But the Tara Protectors had a plan. They have dug a vertical tunnel into the side of the threatened hill and extended this horizontally to end up under the route of the forced toll road. A Lady called Squeak has taken up residence at the end of this tunnel. She intends to stay for two months. On being made aware of this - the Gardai caused the heavy machinery to stop and leave the area. A major victory for the protection of Tara and an embarrassing defeat for the bullies. Things have changed now and global attention is focused on Rath Lugh and the Protectors of Tara and what/who they are fighting and ultimatly what they are protecting.

On Saturday evening, the 23rd of February I led a ‘dreaming’ or ‘group visualization’ or ‘journey’ in a dome house for a group of Tara Protectors on Tara Hill. Our mission was to get guidance on what to do next to Save Tara Valley. A good gathering which returned a high agreement of consensus on what gifts of knowledge we had received. Amongst the group was a young Lady named Squeak. The attention of the world is now on Rath Lugh.

Divert the forced double toll road and build a World Heritage Park at the Celtic Royal City of Tara with its two hills of Skreen and Tara and its Sacred White Mare Valley of the Pagan Goddess Gabhra. Supporters are wanted at Rath Lugh - there are many things that you can do - make contact, visit or just post this news around.

21st. century souterrain

The Protectors at Rath Lugh have planned a Direct Action method used for the first time on protest sites in Ireland. They have dug a tunnel under the route of the M3 directly in front of the Rath Lugh promontory fort in the Gabhra Valley, Co. Meath in Ireland.
The Protectors intend to occupy this tunnel and seal themselves inside indefinitely to prevent construction traffic from passing overhead. They are laying their very lives on the line to protect and preserve Tara's landscape from the destruction wrought by their own Government.
The Protectors said: "We want to draw attention to the continued erosion of the esker by passing construction traffic, hence damaging the base and foundation of the Rath".
This is a continuation of their non-violent direct action. The tunnel acts like a souterrain giving the occupant protection and making it very difficult for the enemy to enter.

M3 motorway protesters claim
to have entered tunnel under road
By - Harry McGee.

CAMPAIGNERS AGAINST the M3 motorway claim they have stepped up their campaign by occupying a tunnel they say they have secretly dug under the proposed route that passes through the Tara Valley in Co. Meath.
A group calling itself the Rath Lugh Direct Action Camp last night said protesters are already occupying the tunnel and were capable of sealing themselves in. They said that construction traffic passing over the tunnel would leave it vulnerable to collapse.
Derek Berrill, a spokesman for the group which is affiliated to the Save Tara campaign, said the passageway was located in front of the Rath Lugh promontory fort in the Gabhra Valley.
"It has been occupied since March 6th. We have moved in because we are never too sure when they plan the next move against us", said Mr. Berrill.
He said that work had commenced on the tunnel in secret in August 2007. He would not specify its exact size. "I can say the tunnel is big, although I am not in a position to give the diameter", said Mr. Berrill.
"It goes directly down and then goes halfway under the route itself, crossing about halfway across [the width of the proposed] motorway".
The protesters say they intend to occupy the tunnel indefinitely to prevent construction traffic from passing overhead.
They say they also want to draw attention to what they say is continued erosion of the landscape from construction traffic.
Mr. Berrill said they were "absolutely certain" that the tunnel itself would not cause damage.
Michael Egan of the National Roads Authority said there was no independent verification as yet that any tunnel had been built.
Entering a caveat that protesters have claimed actions in the past that did not materialise, Mr. Egan said that if a tunnel had been dug then the contractor, and if necessary the Garda Síochána, would have to deal with the situation.
"They have no right to be on that property. They are trespassing above and below the ground", he said.
The Department of Environment said it had no reason to believe that any activity close to Rath Lugh was endangering or damaging the monument.
Minister for the Environment John Gormley's spokesman said that issues surrounding the construction of the road were matters for the Department of Transport and the authority.
The spokesman said that Mr. Gormley yesterday signed a permanent protection order for the Rath Lugh promontory fort - until now it has been protected by a temporary order. This order, he said, was a coincidence unrelated to yesterday's development.
He added that the department was unaware as to the existence of a tunnel.

M3 Protesters warn Gardaí: Tunnel "Will collapse"

A young woman has vowed to seal herself into the tunnel under the proposed route of the M3 near the Hill of Tara in Co. Meath.
Protesters were today frantically trying to communicate to the Gardai, the fragile nature of the soil in the Rath Lugh area, and that any movement of heavy machinery in the vicinity of the Rath will collapse the tunnel, with possible fatal consequences.
Minister Gormley issued a permanent protection order on the Monument last week. However, neither the Department of the Environment nor the Land Registry have been able to supply detailed maps of the protected zone. Protesters claim that the ongoing site works associated with construction of the M3 Motorway are endangering the stability of the Esker upon which Rath Lugh is built.
The Gardaí were today asked by senior figures in the Save Tara campaign, to do all they could to protect the welfare of the young female protester, and in no circumstances allow the NRA or any of their contractors move heavy machinery in the vicinity.
"Any eviction attempt by unqualified and inexperienced personnel is likely to end in failure, with possible catastrophic consequences. There are specialist tunnel rescue crews that need to be consulted before any attempt is made to end this protest". claimed Michael Canney today.
